Gwangju FC Power’s nuclear thumbs-up has dramatically joined Hwang Sun-hong’s squad for a chance to face France.
The South Korea U-22 national team, led by Hwang Sun-hong, will take on the France U-21 national team in Le Havre, France, on March 20. France, a traditional powerhouse, has a plethora of top-notch players from the adult national team to the age-group squads. With legendary French striker Thierry Henry at the helm, expectations are high.굿모닝토토 주소
Uhm Ji-sung was not initially selected to the squad for the trial, but due to an injury to Ko Young-joon (Pohang Steelers), he will be traveling with the team to France.
Prior to joining the U-22 squad, he started on the left flank against Daegu FC in the 36th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023. Uhm tried to find the Daegu goal with aggressive runs and shots, but they were all high and wide. Gwangju was happy to settle for a 1-1 draw to remain in third place.
“In the beginning, we managed the game well, but it was difficult because we lost (the flow) at one point. We didn’t implement the tactics we wanted to do well, so I think we need to reflect on it,” said Uhm Ji-sung. “When I warmed up before the game, my shooting feeling was good. The grass was long and I was a little impatient, but I think that’s my ability. Next time, I will shoot closer to the goal,” he said, expressing regret that he was unable to improve his performance before joining the national team.
He will make his debut for the national team in two weeks against France. Despite the disappointment of not being called up, it’s a great opportunity for him to gain confidence and learn a lot from the French.
“It’s a chance to play against world-class players. I think I will feel what I lack and what I need to improve. It’s a rare opportunity to learn a lot in Korea. I’m looking forward to playing against France,” he said.
He also expressed his pride in being a member of the national team. “I was lucky to be selected,” he said. I think it’s a great opportunity. I’m proud of the Taeguk-mark, so I’ll do my best to not get hurt and have fun.”
